news of note on the last day of 2005
1. our entire apartment smells like bacon. C. made BLT's last night, and this morning made the rev breakfast including bacon. Bacon, bacon bacon. It's fucking awful.
2. I had a cupcake for breakfast this morning. Then I went to the gym.
3. katamari is fun, except for the crotch shots of the king.

miscellaneous
last night the 20 year olds that live on the first floor threw a party. it wasn't that loud and it didn't go late at all, but there was a lot of bass, and a lot of shrieking and giggling. they also mysteriously left several empty boxes from the liqour store on the 3x3 landing, even though the alley (where you put the garbage) is less than 15 feet away.
in other apartment news, it looks like the landlord had to caulk around the bottom of the building, presumably because he got leaking in the basement. the basement never would have leaked (or would not have leaked as badly), however, if he'd fucking bothered to shovel the sidewalk next to the building after we got 4 feet of snow.
in our particular apartment news, we have cancelled our cable. we've lived here since mid april, and the cable has never worked right. we have had about 5 guys out, each time claiming they "fixed it" and never fixing it. the signal is too week so some channels don't load ever, some load half way and are pixelated, so load just fine but the sound doesn't work, etc. so, 7 months and hundreds of dollars wasted in substandard cable wasted, i finally cancelled. and then i couldn't sleep that night. seriously. i kept thinking about all the comedy central, hbo, and discovery health channel i was going to miss (not to mention all of the law & order episodes on tnt and usa), which, when you think about it, is fucking pathetic. first of all, we get great over the air reception because we're in the site line of the sears tower where a lot of the attennas are, so we get all the networks, pbs, wgn and fox in perfect hd (and a bunch of other crap--upn, wb, religious stations, univision, etc), so it's not like there's NO tv at all. second, i have a lot of dvds to catch up on. third, playstation! fourth, internet (which mostly works fine, and will probably work even better once the cable tv stops pulling on the cable signal, so we're keeping it instead of getting dsl). fifth, books, i like books, remember books? sixth, playing scrabble with my monkey.
dirty rev ho/one litre is here for the long weekend. he and c. are running around like two little 8 year old girls back at their first day of school after winter break, excited to see each other. it's precious. oh, and he brought me CUPCAKES!

amendment no. 1 to shitty ass entry
C. has corrected me. Shitty ass is to be used only as an adjective, not a noun. (And C's grandmother deserves our UPmost respect!).
ps: i have a dozen sugar sweet sunshine cupcakes, and you don't.

shitty ass
At some point in her life C's grandmother made up the expression "shitty ass" to be used mostly in place of, as far as I can tell from context, "asshole". Ever since a couple weeks ago when we spent a great deal of time with C's cousins, we cannot stop saying "shitty ass".
"Monkey, the shitty ass kittens won't stop crying."
"Stay on your side of the bed you shitty ass".
"I we don't stop drinking wine every night we're going to become shitty ass alcoholics"
"Don't blame me, it's my shitty ass sister's fault, she started it".
